  1. •In 2006, there were 421 diagnosed early syphilis cases; in 1998, there were 8

  2. •Rates for 2007 have remained steady

  3. •95% of syphilis cases appear among gay and bisexual men

  4. •Two-thirds of the men diagnosed with syphilis are HIV-positive

  5. •60% of the men diagnosed with syphilis are White, and 20% are Latino
